Transportation Department Lead – Engineering Firm
The Opportunity
An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy seeks a motivated Transportation Department Lead to join their Vancouver office. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this role focuses on leading roadway projects in both the public and private sectors across the Lower Mainland, with opportunities to expand influence across British Columbia.
The successful candidate will play a key role in growing a transportation team, managing multidisciplinary projects, and driving the successful execution of roadway planning, detailed design, and construction administration.
Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and scientists specializing in transportation projects.
• Oversee the delivery of engineering designs, models, reports, and specifications for roadway projects.
• Manage project performance, budgets, and schedules while maintaining quality standards.
• Facilitate collaboration across disciplines and coordinate regional project efforts.
• Develop client relationships and lead business development initiatives, including proposal submissions.
• Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff.
• Support a safety-first work culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in roadway detailed design and construction administration.
• Expertise in transportation design principles, including TAC, NACTO, and provincial standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (ArcGIS/QGIS is an asset).
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and drive business development.
