Position: Structural Engineer (Hydroelectric) As a Structural Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design, analysis, and evaluation of structural components for hydroelectric projects. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to ensure the structural integrity, safety, and functionality of the projects. This role requires a strong technical background, expertise in hydroelectric systems, and the ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities: - Perform structural analysis and design for hydroelectric projects, adhering to applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers and designers to develop innovative and cost-effective structural solutions.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and structural assessments of existing structures.
- Review and approve subcontractor and supplier deliverables related to structural components.
- Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and coordination with contractors.
- Utilize software and tools to assist in the analysis and design process.
- Stay updated on industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices related to structural engineering in the hydroelectric sector.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia, or eligible for registration.
- Proven experience in structural design for hydroelectric projects.
- Sound knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., BC Building Code, CSA, IBC, ASCE).
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD).
- Strong understanding of concrete and steel design principles.
- Familiarity with dam and turbine systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience with engineering consultancy projects and client management is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
