Skyline Recruitment is partnering with a reputable, multi-disciplinary consulting firm to fill a Senior Mechanical Engineer position at one of their locations between Toronto, Hamilton, and Kitchener. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Toronto.
Role Overview: As a
Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and execution of mechanical systems for complex infrastructure projects. Working closely with senior team members and managing junior engineers, you will contribute to all phases of mechanical design, from concept development through to contract administration.
Responsibilities: - Lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems across various project types, including healthcare, laboratory, institutional, and civic projects.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources while ensuring high-quality and sustainable MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems design.
- Collaborate with project teams to deliver sustainable solutions such as geothermal, heat pumps, solar PV, and more.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams, ensuring effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
- Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, providing guidance and delegating tasks.
- Apply local building codes (OBC, ASHRAE, NFPA) and sustainability standards (LEED, NetZero) to design solutions.
- Ensure adherence to CAD/Revit standards, quality assurance, and control procedures during drawing production.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, specifically with healthcare, laboratory, and institutional projects.
- Expertise in HVAC, hydronic systems, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gases.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and engineering software (IES, eQuest, RETscreen).
- Strong knowledge of local building codes, mechanical engineering standards, and energy modeling.
- Professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Desired Skills & Experience: - Experience working with sustainable mechanical systems, including energy-efficient HVAC systems, renewable energy solutions (solar, geothermal), and energy modeling.
- Experience with healthcare, laboratory, and institutional building systems is highly advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in presenting and communicating design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with LEED and NetZero certifications.
- Ability to lead design teams and contribute to business development initiatives.
