Senior Geotechnical Engineer on behalf of a leading engineering consultancy in Vancouver, BC. This firm specializes in delivering geotechnical engineering solutions for dam and tailings projects, offering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
Role Overview: The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead geotechnical investigations, foundation designs, and stability assessments for dams, tailings storage facilities, and other large-scale water retention structures. This role involves technical leadership, project management, client interaction, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead geotechnical investigations and foundation design for dam and tailings projects.
- Perform slope stability assessments, seepage modelling, and liquefaction analysis.
- Ensure designs meet local and international standards, including CDA, ICOLD, and ANCOLD guidelines.
- Collaborate with structural, civil, and environmental engineers to develop integrated solutions.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
- Conduct site inspections, oversee field investigations, and provide technical recommendations.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and EITs.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- P.Eng. designation in BC (or eligibility for registration).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on dams and tailings projects.
- Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, embankment stability, and geotechnical risk assessment.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, and Settle3.
- Experience with tailings dam design, liner systems, and seepage control.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
