Job Title: Senior Contracts Manager (Construction Industry)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Contracts Manager to oversee the contractual aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. The Contracts Manager will ensure that all agreements, negotiations, and obligations are met, maintaining compliance with legal standards and protecting the company's interests. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in contract administration, legal aspects of construction, and the ability to manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure all contracts are in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Review terms and conditions of contracts and ensure alignment with company policies.
- Provide guidance on contractual obligations to project managers and teams.
- Develop and maintain contract templates for standardization and efficiency.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with contracts and projects.
- Advise the management team on strategies to mitigate risks and resolve disputes.
- Ensure the company is protected from any contractual liabilities.
- Financial Oversight:
- Monitor project budgets and financial performance, ensuring contracts align with cost expectations.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely invoicing and payments according to contractual terms.
- Review change orders and variations to assess impact on budgets and timelines.
- Project Coordination:
- Work closely with project managers to ensure contract terms are being met throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Track progress and performance to ensure compliance with deadlines and quality standards.
- Provide regular updates to senior management regarding the status of contracts and any issues that arise.
- Dispute Resolution:
- Handle contract-related disputes and claims, ensuring resolution is achieved in a timely and effective manner.
- Act as a liaison between all parties to facilitate communication and negotiation.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained for all contracts, amendments, and correspondence.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in construction law, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of contract administrators or assistants.
- Provide training to project teams on contractual obligations and best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in contract management within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, legal terminology, and industry regulations.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in contract management software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Legal qualifications or certifications (e.g., Member of a Chartered Institute of Building or similar) are a plus.
