Position Overview:
Skyline Recruitment is partnering with a leading infrastructure firm seeking an experienced Director of Environmental Quality to join their team. This senior leadership role, located in Toronto, will be instrumental in delivering environmental excellence on large-scale projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee the Environmental Quality Management System (EQMS) for the project, ensuring compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Act as the primary authority on environmental quality matters, providing independent oversight separate from design and production teams.
- Conduct regular audits to assess adherence to environmental goals, project commitments, and compliance standards.
- Address and close-out Non-Conformance Reports related to environmental performance promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into project design, construction, and delivery.
- Provide expert guidance in the preparation, review, and approval of environmental quality assurance procedures and reports.
- Lead training initiatives to enhance team awareness and implementation of environmental quality standards.
- Maintain positive relationships with federal, provincial, and local regulatory agencies to ensure smooth permitting processes and compliance.
- Monitor and evaluate construction site erosion, sediment control measures, and environmental best practices to ensure industry-leading performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of senior management experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably within urban and undeveloped environments, such as light rail transit or subway construction.
- Strong expertise in environmental compliance programs, planning, and quality management systems.
- Certification as a quality professional from recognized certifying bodies, with completion of ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Training as a minimum.
- Demonstrated success managing complex federal and provincial environmental permit applications and operational compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental and waste legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
- Proven background in developing, monitoring, and auditing environmental management systems.
