Position Overview:As a
Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will take on a leadership role, providing technical guidance and strategic oversight on complex and high-profile
high-rise developments across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). With over 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience, you will bring expert knowledge in foundation design, soil-structure interaction, and risk management to drive the success of landmark projects. As a key member of the team, your contributions will ensure the development and implementation of innovative, sustainable geotechnical solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities: - Leadership in Geotechnical Engineering: Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams in the analysis, design, and execution of geotechnical aspects for high-rise and large-scale urban infrastructure projects, ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence and client satisfaction.
- Expert Technical Guidance: Provide expert consultation on complex geotechnical issues related to foundation design, soil-structure interaction, slope stability, and risk management.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with clients, architects, structural engineers, and project stakeholders to develop and deliver innovative geotechnical solutions tailored to the specific needs of each project.
- Project Oversight: Oversee geotechnical investigations, fieldwork, testing, and analysis for high-rise developments, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis to inform design and construction decisions.
- Mentorship and Development: Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing them with the support and expertise necessary to develop their technical skills and grow within the firm.
- Business Development: Contribute to business development efforts, identifying opportunities for new projects, enhancing relationships with clients, and promoting the firm’s geotechnical capabilities in the high-rise sector.
Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Professional Designation: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including significant experience in high-rise developments and complex urban infrastructure projects.
- Certifications: CCIL certification or equivalent accreditation is highly desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing and mentoring teams, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, particularly as they apply to high-rise construction, foundation systems, and soil-structure interaction.
