Role Overview: The Corporate Accountant will manage all accounting tasks for different corporate entities and real estate brokerage activities, including preparing consolidated financial statements. They will ensure accurate financial reporting and help maintain compliance with accounting standards and brokerage regulations. The position requires a person with strong attention to detail and exceptional analytical skills. The ideal candidate is a team player with a passion for real estate. In addition, this role involves leadership responsibilities, including supporting junior staff in their professional and technical development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial reports like balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring they are accurate and comply with GAAP and company policies.
- Maintain the general ledger by recording and reconciling transactions. Handle month-end and year-end closing tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist with external audits by providing necessary documentation and answering audit questions.
- Manage property-related expenses, including invoices and maintenance costs, making sure they are properly coded and allocated.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and real estate regulations. Set up strong internal controls to reduce financial risks.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to boost property performance.
- Collaborate with other departments—such as accounting, tax, and legal—to gather financial information and resolve issues.
Qualifications: - Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Corporate Accountant role.
- Bachelor of in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
- CPA designation.
- Experience with mentoring and training other team members preferred.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, capable of handling both numerical data and conceptual information.
Location of Employment: The Corporate Accountant will be based in Vancouver, BC.
Compensation:
CA$75,000/yr - CA$90,000/yr.
3 weeks vacation.
