Controller Location: Calgary, AB
Company Overview: Our client is a real estate investment firm focusing on multi-family properties, market condos, and rental apartments in AB.
Role Summary: The Financial Controller will manage all accounting functions, including payables and receivables, bank reconciliations, and month-end closings. This role involves preparing internal and external financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Additional responsibilities include overseeing payroll, benefits, and treasury management, as well as hiring and training accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities: - Oversee all accounting functions, including payables, receivables, and reconciliations
- Manage month-end closing and financial reporting
- Handle internal and external reporting, including job cost and proforma reports
- Coordinate with external auditors and prepare year-end working papers
- Manage the budget process and annual overhead budgets
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including tax filings
- Administer payroll and benefits, and manage treasury activities
Qualifications: - University degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification
- Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of ASPE
- Excellent communication skills
- At least 3 years of controllership or management experience
- Experience in real estate or construction is preferred
- Public accounting experience is an asset
Compensation: CA$115,000 to CA$140,000 per year, based on experience
