Position: Municipal Engineer (Water and Wastewater) As a Municipal Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing water and wastewater treatment and conveyance projects. You will collaborate closely with a team of engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of municipal infrastructure projects. This role requires strong technical skills, a thorough understanding of water and wastewater systems, and effective communication and coordination abilities.
Responsibilities: - Develop conceptual and detailed designs for water and wastewater treatment and conveyance projects.
- Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, sizing and selection of equipment, and preparation of technical reports.
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing infrastructure, perform inspections, and monitor construction progress.
- Participate in the evaluation of alternative solutions and provide recommendations for project implementation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water and wastewater systems with other municipal infrastructure components.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in municipal engineering.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia, or eligible for registration.
- Proven experience in municipal engineering, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment and conveyance.
- Sound knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, hydraulic modeling, and conveyance systems.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., BC Building Code, CSA, AWWA, WEF).
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, InfoWorks, SWMM).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience with engineering consultancy projects and client management is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
